Don’t let the title fool you, this isn’t just about a natural birth. What I want to share in this blog can apply to any plan or process so keep on reading. During the past 2 months my life has been all about brand new life. Recently I gave birth to our second child. Quite an exciting, busy and tiresome time but all worth it. As I waited in grand expectation I also prepared month by month for that big moment of bringing another human being into this world. Each month I looked forward to the changes my body and baby would go through as the due date arrived. I eagerly anticipated how this birth would go and even more so how this child would be in comparison to the first. Like any mom will tell you, each pregnancy is different. Here are some of the things I learned from this one.

  • The journey doesn’t have to be painful
  • There’s no way around it, growth gets uncomfortable, as it should
  • Prepare for the stretching
  • When you have down time, take it
  • Be okay with how the delivery happens even if it’s not how you expected it to be
  • At the end of the day all that matters is your baby
  • Your recovery is just as important as your delivery

Again, let the word “pregnancy” be interchangeable for your situation. As you have read through this list take the time to fill in what your “baby” is. How is this journey different from the last? Will you give yourself the space and freedom to accept something different or even try something new? Like a birth experience, plans, dreams, and processes all happen in a very unique way. Don’t minimize any part or take any of it for granted. Take these tips and apply them where you can. Remember all things are made beautiful in their time.
